Props List
- Mobile Phone- to show text messages being shared between the characters
- Photo/ Photo frame- to connote the romantic sub genre earlier on in the video through a photo of the couple.
- Books- representation of her 'good girl' side. For the library scene and the beginning scene when she is studying.
- Laptop- relatable to every teenager as this is needed for revision/ school work. Appeals to the target audience as it is an scene connected to real life.
- Leather Jacket and Dark Lipstick- to connote the character's 'bad girl' side, it's a setreotypical image of bad girls.
- Bandana- to connote the male character's 'bad boy' side and to create a subtle link between the band and our video.
Shooting Schedule
As a group we decided to create a shooting schedule. We looked through everyone's timetable to see when we had a free period to film or if we were free during the weekend. We also noted who would be required for the filming and what we would film so that we know what props we may need to bring and so that everyone knew which setting we would have to be in to film. Communication between the members of the group was important in order to fill out the shooting schedule.
Storyboard and Lyric Analysis
| Story board (1) |
| Story board (2) |
We used the lyrics to help us plan out what scenes we want our video. It allowed us to match the visuals with the lyrics, so we had a clear understanding of the narrative. We found that analysing the lyrics was much more effective than creating a storyboard.
This helped us to plan our narrative as our music video is narrative based, we needed a clear story. Analysing the lyrics allowed us to create the story and have a solid base to work on.

Genre and Subculture
We have chosen to create a music video based in the pop/ rock genre. The chosen song for our music video is 'Good Girls' by 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS).
5 Seconds of Summer- Good Girls
A very similar music video to this one is 'Feeling This' by Blink-182. We believe that 5SOS may have been inspired by their video and included intertextuality within their video as one of their influences and favourite band is Blink-182.
Blink-182- Feeling This
Both videos have a prison setting and similar shots, if not the same, to what we see in the music video. The music video contains similar narratives as it is about badly behaved people causing riots in prison and their performance of the band playing the song outside of the prison, is very similar.
Another band that is similar to 5SOS is McBusted. Much like 5SOS McBusted also have a pop/ rock influence to their music. In this particular music video it shows that people who are normally 'good' turn bad and it also has scenes where everyone in the office is causing a riot similarly, in the 5SOS- Good Girls video everyone in the prison is causing a riot.
Another music video that follows a similar narrative to 'Good Girls' is 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift. At the beginning of the video she is shown to be innocent and is portrayed as a 'good girl' but towards the end of the video she becomes destructive and reveals who she is underneath.

Location
Why will it be filmed
here?
Any restrictions/
difficulties/ rules?
How will you overcome the
problems attached to this location?
Bedroom- Chloe’s room
Bedroom scene for lyrics- “cause every night she studies hard in her
room”
Quite a small space, may be difficult to set up a number of shots
Limit the amount of people and objects in the room
School Library
So that the visuals match the lyrics- “I swear she lives in that
library. But if you ask her she’ll say- ‘that’s where you’ll find me!’”
Consider the students in the library, there may be a lesson in the
school library, we have to stick to the rules of being quiet
Ask the librarian if we are allowed to film in the library and what
would be the best time to film there
School toilets
Transition from ‘good girl’ to ‘bad girl’- change of makeup.
This is a public place so we need to consider the other students. The
space is quite small.
Film during lessons time as there won’t be any students in the
bathroom.
Street (outside house/ outside school)
To get a variety of scenes in the background and for the chorus.
Have to be aware of the public and vehicles.
Try to film during a time in the day where the street/ walkway is
less likely to be used.
